Business Development Professional

Overview

Seeking a Business Development Professional based out of either our office in South Plainfield, NJ or Newfoundland, NJ.

The Business Development Professional is responsible for contacting existing and potential clients, searching and developing new market sectors, and improving business sales. This position will coordinate business development strategies directly with the Division Leaders. This position reports to the Partners.

This position is not remote, it requires working out of the South Plainfield, NJ office or the Newfoundland, NJ office when not meeting clients or attending networking events. This position requires travel throughout NJ and NYC.

Responsibilities

  • Learn all of the company’s services beyond what is listed on the marketing materials, including recent projects, achievements, and types of projects to pursue.
  • Develop and lead presentations based on the audience, service, sector, region, etc.
  • Develop and maintain all contacts and leads via CRM/opportunity tracking system and provide detailed reporting
  • Reach out to potential and existing clients and arrange in-person or virtual meetings
  • Increase the value of current clients while attracting new clients
  • Coordinate and participate in departmental meetings with Divisional Leaders and Executives to develop goals for business growth
  • Present and/or actively participate in MFS’ Lunch & Learn programs for all staff on Business Development best practices
  • Assist in go/no-go RFP/Q opportunities review process and attend Go/No-Go meetings
  • Register and attend conferences, business development/networking events, and other professional association events.
  • Coordinate, set up, and run a successful booth at events.
  • Schedule, organize, and manage tasks, meetings, and events via Outlook calendar
  • Coordinate and work with the marketing department and others where tasks or attendance at events overlap.
  • Work with satellite offices to provide or request resources as needed
  • Other duties as assigned.

Experience

  • 5 years’ of general experience within the area of sales
  • Willingness to learn company’s expertise/services.
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills
  • Great attention to detail
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and regular access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Must be willing to travel between offices and client offices.
  • Required to attend several networking events each month. Some events may require overnight stays.
  • Company background check (required)

Preferences

  • Sales experience within the A/E/C industry preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in sales, marketing, communications, or related degree
  • Existing relationships within the A/E/C community which will help strengthen consultant and client relationships would be ideal.
  • Proficient in CRM platform, preferably Vision.
